The Cost Of is a small editorial site about decisions that don’t feel like decisions.

Most things we do every day — the coffee out, the morning scroll, the gym we don’t go to — don’t register as choices. They’re just what happens. The numbers tell a different story.

This site is for the moment between knowing and acting. It does not instruct. It observes how the math compounds.

Every scenario is authored, never generated. The methodology is shown. The sources are named. Calculations and values are modeled on US standards and estimates. The realization is free and always will be.

Some scenarios will land. Some won’t. We are interested in the ones that linger.
